Sergio Marchi is the Principal of the Marchi Group, a global strategic consultancy based in Geneva, Switzerland.
He has been an active player in global affairs, with a professional career that spans both the private and public sectors.
Sergio Marchi has held senior corporate positions with both Canadian and Swiss private firms. He was also President of the Canada-China Business Council, as well as Chairman of the Canadian Services Coalition.
Amongst his current professional responsibilities, Sergio Marchi is Chairman of the Arton Capital Advisory Board, a financial services firm specializing in HNW Investor Immigrants. He also teaches at the US Webster University in Geneva, in the International Relations Department. As well, he is an accomplished communicator, and serves as a public speaker on leading global issues.
The Honourable Sergio Marchi enjoyed a distinguished political and diplomatic career. First elected as a Toronto City Councillor, he was subsequently elected to the Canadian Parliament as a Federal Member of Parliament for 15 years.
During his time in government, Sergio Marchi served as a Cabinet Minister in three key portfolios: Citizenship and Immigration, Environment, and International Trade.
After leaving the political arena, Sergio Marchi was appointed as Canadian Ambassador to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the UN Agencies, in Geneva, where he served for five years. He quickly established his leadership credentials by assuming a number of important posts, including being elected Chairman of the WTO General Council.
Sergio Marchi went on to be nominated by the UN Secretary General to serve as a Commissioner on the UN Global Commission on International Migration. More recently, he was invited by the World Economic Forum to serve as a member of their Global Agenda Council on Migration.
