“We sat down with Dr. Parag Khanna, author of new book\u00a0The Future Is Asian, before he took off for the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland<\/h4>\n

As part of the launch of his new book,\u00a0The Future Is Asian, Dr. Parag Khanna spoke at at members\u2019 club\u00a01880\u00a0on January 17, at an event organised by the\u00a0Forum Club and the\u00a0ESSEC & Mannheim Executive MBA\u00a0programme.\u00a0Singapore Tatler\u00a0interviewed him afterwards, and a full interview will be out in our print issue soon. In the meantime, here are some takeaways from our time with\u00a0the global strategist.<\/h4>\n

1\/5He\u2019s a compulsive multi-tasker<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

From checking his phone in between each pose for the camera during our photo shoot, to deftly fielding interview questions while signing piles of his new book for an event later that evening, this is a man who knows how to wring productivity from every second.<\/h4>\n

2\/5He has a very cool dad<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

When he was 12, the Berlin Wall fell. Parag\u2019s father, a businessman, told the family: \u201cWe got to check this out.\u201d A month later, he found himself in Berlin, sitting on a section of the wall, and even got to bring pieces of it back to show his classmates in the United States. That indelible experience changed his life. \u201cIt got me hooked on geo-politics. Every single thing I\u2019ve done in my career I can trace back to that moment.\u201d<\/h4>\n

3\/5He would like to present this \u201cnerdy joke\u201d for your reading pleasure<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Parag and his wife, Ayesha\u2014a fellow powerhouse strategic advisor\u2014moved to Singapore with their two young children in 2012. Ask him why, and he says: \u201cWe were living in\u00a0London, and the flat was getting crowded with all of us and the nanny. So I said, we need a nanny state. And what is the world\u2019s foremost nanny state?\u201d For the record, that\u2019s not a pejorative term in his opinion. Check out one of his many pieces about Singapore\u00a0here.<\/h4>\n
