Se\u00f1alaba que un germen pat\u00f3geno de esas caracter\u00edsticas pod\u00eda tanto originarse de forma natural como ser dise\u00f1ado y creado en un laboratorio, a fin de producir un arma biol\u00f3gica. Y hac\u00eda un llamamiento a los Estados e instituciones internacionales para que tomaran medidas a fin de conjurar lo que ya se describ\u00eda como una acechanza cierta.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>La presidenta del grupo que firmaba el informe, Gro Harlem Brundtland, antigua primera ministra de Noruega y exdirectora de la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud, denunci\u00f3 que un brote de enfermedad a gran escala era una perspectiva tan alarmante como absolutamente realista y pod\u00eda encaminarnos hacia el equivalente en el siglo XXI de la \u201cgripe espa\u00f1ola\u201d de 1918, que mat\u00f3 a cerca de 50 millones de personas. Denunci\u00f3 adem\u00e1s que ning\u00fan Gobierno estaba preparado para ello, ni hab\u00eda implementado el Reglamento Sanitario Internacional al respecto, aunque todos lo hab\u00edan aceptado. \u201cNo sorprende\u201d \u2014dijo\u2014 \u201cque el mundo est\u00e9 tan mal provisto ante una pandemia de avance r\u00e1pido transmitida por el aire\u201d.
