Gordon Hewitt is Professor of Business Administration at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan.  His interests include the fields of global competition, corporate strategy, and the value added of executive leadership. For many years, Gordon has been the highest rated core faculty member on Michigan’s senior executive programs. His work over the last two decades, often in partnership with the late CK Prahalad, has been at the leading edge of thinking about corporate competitiveness and corporate governance.

In 2007 he was given the International Distinguished Faculty Award by the Institute of Management Studies whose members include leading academics and consultants worldwide. His many academic awards include the title of Honorary Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Glasgow, Scotland, where he started his career. In addition, Gordon Hewitt also holds the title of Distinguished Professor of Corporate Strategy at Duke Corporate Education, Durham, NC.

He has extensive experience as a consultant after  25 years of working at CEO and Board level with numerous international corporations. He has been involved in major strategy and top leadership development programmes for corporations such as Pfizer, Time Warner, IBM, Sony, Honeywell, Shell, PwC, Zurich Financial, Credit Suisse, Diageo, Bosch, Verizon, Standard Chartered Bank, and Deutsche Post/DHL.

All over the world, Gordon Hewitt is widely acknowledged as one of the leading authorities on the challenge facing business leaders of competing and creating value in dynamic, complex markets. He has recently chaired meetings of European and American CEOs and Board Chairmen to discuss the future of corporate strategy and corporate governance. In his upcoming book – Strategy as a Process of Discovery – he deals with the changing demands on strategy and executive leadership in the new global business landscape.

Gordon Hewitt was born and educated in Glasgow. He now works extensively throughout the USA, Asia and Europe. His principal home is still in Scotland, and he is a member of the International Advisory Board of Scottish Enterprise. From 2003 to 2009 he was also Chairman of Court, the Governing Board, at the University of Abertay Dundee

Gordon Hewitt was awarded a CBE for services to management and international business in the Queen’s 2007 New Year’s Honours List. In 2008 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland’s national academy of science and letters.

Gordon Hewitt is a former Scottish international amateur golfer, and supports charities for the theatre and journalism professions.
