Lluis Bassat is one of the advertising leaders with the greatest prestige and experience in Spain and the world. He has extensive training in various fields: Humanities, Business Administration, Social Sciences and, of course, Advertising. In his long and intense career, his role in organizing the opening and closing ceremonies of the Barcelona’92 Olympic Games stands out.
Among others, Lluis Bassat has held the positions of Chairman of the WPP Iberia Group and has been a member of the board of directors of Ogilvy Worldwide and Telefónica Publicidad e Información.
He has received from His Majesty the King the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit, awarded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, being the most important civil decoration awarded in Spain. In 2021, Lluis Bassat was named Doctor Honoris Causa by the UVIC – UCC (Vic University – Central University of Catañunya), for being considered “one of the communication fathers of the 20th and early 21st centuries”, with «a great capacity entrepreneur that manifests itself both in the advertising field and in the cultural, sports, social and intellectual fields”.
He has won more than 400 national and international advertising awards, highlighting the award “Best Spanish advertising of the twentieth century” from the magazine El Publicista, or his choice as “The best Latin American advertising of the twentieth century” by the Latin American Association of advertising agencies (ALAP).
Currently, Lluis Bassat dedicates a good part of his free time as President of the Carmen & Lluís Bassat Private Foundation, to which he allocates the resources that he generates with his talks, classes and conferences. The main activities of the Foundation are structured around five main objectives: to promote cross-cultural education, help groups with problems or disabilities, support to erradicate poverty, promote the training of advertising communication and promote contemporary art.
Throughout his professional career, Lluis Bassat has given nearly 2,000 conferences around the world, to share the knowledge and strategies that have led him to be a successful publicist. Creativity, business intelligence or personal communication are some of the great themes that he addresses in his presentations, from enthusiasm and with the conviction that all attendees can be brilliant creatives.
