La rivoluzione degli outsider: La nuova leadership che cambierà il mondo.

This book opens with an image: countless men, all standing in their elegant grey suits. Because, for as long as we can remember, those who make decisions and hold power have always been them—men alone at the helm, competent and efficient, strong, almost granite-like, infallible in the eyes of most, often reluctant to plan their succession or to acknowledge when it’s time to hand over the reins.

These are the men Claudia Parzani, Chair of Borsa Italiana, has observed for many years—first as a very young woman, trying to understand who she might want to become one day, and later, as she sat alongside them in the rooms where decisions are made. Today, however, this statuesque image of the leader is beginning to crumble. Perhaps because the world is changing faster than ever, the challenges ahead are numerous and complex, and leaders who continue to follow a model that never changes may be increasingly ineffective.

It is from here that Claudia Parzani begins, guiding us through a deep reflection on leadership and the world we live in—rich with personal anecdotes and stories of more and less well-known figures and cases—leafing through an imaginary album of memories and thoughts that make the reading engaging. She then poses the most important question: who today has the ability to lead us into the future?

The answer lies with the ultimate outsiders: women and young people. Those who, not knowing the rules, not belonging to any pre-established power group, and having nothing to lose because little is expected of them, are best positioned to break the rules of the past and dismantle the monolithic image of the leader we’ve always been used to. And through their example, they can inspire other outsiders to carve out their own space in the world, to pursue a career, unleashing a virtuous cycle that leads to “a company and a society where differences are no longer recorded and counted as if they were a minus, but rather as a value preceded by a plus sign—representing a gain, the acquisition of a missing element, the addition of a new trait that enriches, strengthens, and solidifies.”
