Andrea Fuentes is one of the most influential and inspiring figures in world artistic swimming, recognized both for her extraordinary career as an athlete and for her evolution into a transformative coach and leader, currently part of the international elite of the sport. In 2025, she was elected to the International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF), an honor that celebrates not only her sporting achievements but also her contribution to the global growth of the discipline.

She is also the author of “Mentalidad, propósito y pasión” (Mindset, Purpose and Passion), a direct and inspiring book focused on progress and personal growth.

Andrea Fuentes is one of the most decorated figures in the history of Spanish sport. Her athletic career is among the most successful in Spain’s history: she competed in three editions of the Olympic Games (2004, 2008, and 2012), where she won four Olympic medals — three silver and one bronze — and established herself as a key figure during the “golden era” of Spanish synchronized swimming under coaches such as Anna Tarrés. She also accumulated more than 30 medals across World and European Championships, helping establish Spain as one of the world powers in the discipline.

After retiring from elite competition in 2013, Andrea Fuentes transformed her sporting career into an opportunity to share her knowledge and innovative vision. She worked as a consultant and coach in clubs and national teams across several countries before accepting, in 2018, the challenge of leading the United States national artistic swimming team, which was then in a period of competitive crisis.

Under her leadership, the U.S. team returned to the Olympic podium with a historic silver medal in Paris 2024, their first such achievement in two decades, reinforcing her methodological approach centered on athlete mental health and sustainable performance development.

Following her success in the United States, she returned to Spain as national head coach of artistic swimming, with the mission of revitalizing the Spanish program for upcoming Olympic cycles, including Los Angeles 2028. At the 2025 Singapore World Championships, under her leadership, the Spanish team achieved the best medal tally in its history at a World Championship, with 3 golds, 2 silvers, and 4 bronzes, topping the overall medal table by nation.

Beyond her competitive achievements, Andrea Fuentes is recognized for her transformational leadership — a philosophy of empowerment, creativity, and respect for the person behind the athlete — which combines technical excellence with a deep commitment to the holistic well-being of those she coaches.

Her story — from Olympic athlete to international coach and now architect of a new generation of swimmers — makes her an essential voice in conferences on leadership, resilience, high-performance team management, and personal and professional transformation.
